Author Bio: Kylie Hillman is the Australian author of the International Bestselling Black Shamrocks MC series, Amazon Bestselling NA/Sports Novel, Brawl (Black Hearts MMA #1), and Amnesia, the first book in the Centrifuge Duet. When she's not writing, she's wife to a Harley-riding, boating and fishing, four-wheel driving, quintessential Aussie bloke and mum to two crazy, adorable, and eccentric kids. Kylie is a Crohn's Disease sufferer and awareness campaigner, as well as an avid tea drinker, metal head, and math nerd, she is known for lacing everything she says with sarcasm and inappropriate innuendo. Writes: Romantic Suspense/Thrillers (MC & MMA) and Psychological Thrillers Author of: Seizing Control, Black Shamrocks MC #1 Brawl, Black Hearts MMA #1 Amnesia, Centrifuge Duet #1 Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m 32. Australian. Married to my own Harley-riding alpha. Mum to two nutcases. Known for my snark, sarcasm, and ability to make inappropriate innuendo out of the most innocent sentences. I love metal, math, and making people laugh when they shouldn’t be. My motto is “Live your best life”, closely followed by “Don’t be a dick”. I have a severe case of Crohn’s Disease so I like to spend my spare time harassing the Australian government about new treatment options and subsidies. When I’m not writing, I can be found reading, compulsively cleaning, or bingeing on Netflix. Tell us about your latest release. My last release was Amnesia, Centrifuge Duet #1 back in February. It was a departure from my usual romantic suspense genre as it was an erotic, psychological suspense thriller. The story follows a young woman who wakes up with amnesia and slowly finds out that she can’t trust those who surround her. Its basic premise covers a tale as old as time – the need to satisfy greed at any costs and the cast iron fact that good does not always triumph evil. What can readers expect from you in the rest of 2017? My next release is the first book in my Black Shamrocks MC spinoff, prequel series. Conan will be released on July 28th and his book is going to introduce readers to the first generation of the Black Shamrocks MC and delve deeper into the chaos they created that impacted their children in the original Black Shamrocks MC series. I also have the second book in the Black Shamrocks MC: First Generation series as well as three more books in my Black Hearts MMA series scheduled for the remainder of 2017. Have you got anything planned for 2018 (book releases, signings etc.)? Next year, I heading to the Titanic Signing in Belfast in March, then to Cincinnati for the Motorcycles, Mobsters, and Mayhem Signing in July, before finishing the year at the West Coast Fiction Festival in Western Australia in November. I beyond excited for my first overseas signings and can’t wait to tick visiting Perth off my bucket list. Book-wise, I plan to publish the final four books in the Black Shamrocks MC: First Generation series plus a couple of psychological thriller standalones. What is your favourite genre to write? A mash-up of the romance, suspense, and thriller genres. Do you see yourself writing in any other genres in the future? I have so many other ideas plotted out already. It’s just a matter of finding the time. Currently taking up room in my Google Drive are the beginnings of a dark paranormal romance trilogy, a teen fantasy series (think along the lines of Tamora Pierce’s The Song of the Lioness series), and an action/crime series. Which book was your favourite to write, and why? Tempting Fate, Black Shamrocks MC #4 was my favourite ever writing experience. That book was the culmination of everything I’d been sowing through the first three books in the series and it flew from my fingertips when I finally got to write it. Mad Dog and Lainey are my favourite characters to write so I always love revisiting them. For those who are new to your work, which book would you recommend starting with? It depends on the level of dark that the reader prefers. If they don’t mind a little darkness, then I’d recommend starting with Seizing Control, Black Shamrocks MC #1. If they enjoy the lighter side of gritty then Brawl, Black Hearts MMA #1 would be better. How do you find names for your characters? And can you write them until you’ve found the perfect one? So far, the names of the characters have come to me when the basic storyline has hit. I have a lot of trouble with last names so I usually open up a discussion in my reader group. My Kollectivites always offer the best suggestions. Which of your characters would you want to be stranded on a desert island with, and why? Mad Dog, hands down! He’s based on my husband (to the extent that his first name is a derivative of my husband’s name) so I know he’d take care of me while keeping me safe and “entertained”. Do you have a character you feel more connected to? I love my female characters. They all have parts of me and the women that I admire in real life in them. While they’re not perfect characters, I think that most women can connect with their personalities, individual foibles, strengths, and shortcomings in a realistic way. What’s the best reaction you’ve ever received over one of your books? The start of the Black Shamrocks MC series tackles issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, and PTSD. I love receiving messages from readers who have been in similar situations or know someone who has thanking me for my realistic handling of the topics. My favourite ever email came from a reader who said that my words helped her understand why her sister behaved the way she did when they were trying to help her leave her abusive relationship. Who is your biggest supporter? Definitely, my husband. He can become resentful about the time that I spend writing, but he also understands that it makes me happy and fulfils my innate need to create. Who are your must-read/one-click authors? JA Huss, Pepper Winters, Lili Saint Germain, Tarryn Fisher, and Susan Fanetti are my must-read authors. I’ll drop what I’m currently reading whenever they have a new release. What book has made you laugh most? LA Casey’s Slater Brothers series. I don’t read a lot of comedy but I love that series. What book has made you cry most? Show the Fire by Susan Fanetti. That book gutted me. Were you an avid reader as a child? Yes! I took a paperback everywhere I went, just in case I had a spare moment to read. I’d also constantly sneak off and hide in the bathroom when I was home to keep reading when I should have been doing chores. Are any of your heroes based on real men in your life? Most definitely. Mad Dog and Hooligan are my husband, through and through. Timber is based on my little brother. Benji shares a struggle with my eldest brother. Jax from the Centrifuge Duet is a compilation of people I’ve come across. Real life experiences and observations flow through my stories. Are any of the experiences in your books based on events that have happened to you/someone you know? They’re based on real life events, but also things I see on the news and observe in strangers. I’m always watching and listening to people and making note of how they behave and react. Do you have any funny writing quirks or stories you could tell us? I don’t know if this is funny or quirky, but I cannot write unless my house is spotless. My inability to function in chaos makes for some “fun” times such as vacuuming at midnight because the messy floor was distracting me. Are you a sporty or curl up with a good book type of person? It depends on the weather. If it’s sunny, I like to be out and about. However, I still read every night before I fall asleep and usually a book or two on the weekends. In the cooler months, if I’m not writing, I’m curled up in my spot on the couch reading. What is the most romantic thing someone has ever done for you? Um, next question please. My husband is not really a romantic and, after 15 years together, I’d probably laugh at him if he tried. I must add that I do get a cup of coffee in bed every morning. What is the wildest thing you’ve ever done? Jeez, I was a bit nuts in my early adult years so there’s a few things to choose from. One that sticks out is being busted having sex on the sports field of an exclusive boy’s high school in the early (daylight) hours of the morning. My husband and I had been walking home from a long night out when the urge hit. We thought we were in a park. Didn’t realise that we were on private school grounds until security started yelling at us. It was a mad scramble to dress and leave before they got to us – I was a bit pissed when we got home because I lost my favourite pair of panties that day. What is the strangest thing you’ve done in the name of book research? I had my husband (who’s an MMA fanatic) work through fight moves with me when I was writing Brawl. I’m sure we looked like a pair of nutters as we wrestled in slow motion on the living room floor. What is your drink of choice while writing? Coffee and lots of it! What is your favourite writing snack? Pretzels and skittles. Do you have any pets? Yes, I have a Johnson’s Bulldog cross AmStaff named Sienna that I saw on a Facebook sales post and fell in love with at first sight. I made my husband drive 250kms each way on our anniversary to get her for me. She was eight months old and her previous owners were trying to sell her because they couldn’t handle her. When she came to us, she settled down straight away and actually saved my life a few years later when a dog attacked me and our little Maltese. We also have a Maltese cross Lhasa Apso named Angus (after Angus Young from AC/DC), a Rainbow Lorikeet named Bow, and a cat name Mia. Are you a morning person? Nope! And I never will be. People who enjoy mornings are evil! If you could have any superpower, what would it be? The ability to read minds. My intuition is strong, but sometimes I don’t listen to it when I should. Being able to read minds would end the guessing game. What book are you reading now? Atheists who kneel and pray by Tarryn Fisher Name 3 books everyone needs to read (excluding yours). I’m going to cheat and name series because I can’t narrow it down to just three books. Signal Bend series by Susan Fanetti. Alex Delaware series by Johnathan Kellerman Rosato & Di Nunzio series by Lisa Scottoline Author Bio: A.J. Norris is a romantic suspense and dark paranormal romance author. She enjoys being able to get inside someone else's head, even a fictional one, and see what they see. Watching how her characters deal with difficult situations or squirm with the uncomfortable ones makes the hard work of writing all worth it. However, writing and reading weren’t always in her foremost thoughts. In fact, her love affair with writing came as a shock to everyone she knows, including herself. At a young age, she rarely opened a book, unless forced to read something for school. But that’s all behind her now. She wrote her first book several years ago, which turned out to be a surprisingly cathartic process, and she hasn’t been able to stop writing since. A.J. loves going to the movies, watching her son play baseball, and communing with other writers. She’s a member of two writer’s groups and RWA. She lives in southeastern Michigan with her family, who are extremely tolerant (at least most of the time) of all her late nights behind the computer. Writes: Paranormal Romance and Romantic Suspense Author of: The Dark Amulet Series and Tattoo Crimes Series. Tell us about your latest release.
My Security is a box set with 7 full-length novels in the thriller and romantic suspense genre. The set includes my book, Tattoo Killer. What can readers expect from you in the rest of 2017? Inked Killer (Romantic Suspense) releases October 3; Craving Secrets Anthology (Alternative Facts) releases August 22; My Security (Box set including my book Tattoo Killer releases, July 25; I have a couple other projects in the works too, but I don’t have release dates for those, but hopefully soon. Have you got anything planned for 2018 (book releases, signings etc.)? I plan on finishing up my Tattoo Crimes series with the third and final book (Marked by a Killer) and getting the next book in my Dark Amulet Series (Her Black Magic) published. I What is your favourite genre to write? Paranormal Romance Do you see yourself writing in any other genres in the future? The only thing I could see myself writing would be a fairy tale retelling, which is still in the fantasy family like paranormal. Which book was your favourite to write, and why? I have a book coming out in October called Inked Killer, which is the second book in my Tattoo Crimes Series. I enjoyed writing this book because of the MC is a little older than your average hero but still awesome. For those who are new to your work, which book would you recommend starting with? This depends on what genre you prefer. If you like PNR then I’d say Her Black Wings. If you prefer contemporary/romantic suspense then I’d say Tattoo Killer. How do you find names for your characters? And can you write them until you’ve found the perfect one? I tend to like less common names. Usually, the character will dictate their name. Sometimes the character will show up in my head with a name already. I have written several characters that I changed their name after the book was written, but that’s not usual for me. Which of your characters would you want to be stranded on a desert island with, and why? Any of the angels in my Dark Amulet Series because they can manifest clothing, tools, a boat (LOL), etc. Do you have a character you feel more connected to? This is a tough one because as a writer we put a little of ourselves into every character. Well, maybe not the evil ones. However, sometimes bad characters are the most fun to write. What’s the best reaction you’ve ever received over one of your books? When a reader says the book kept them thinking about it after they were done and they can’t wait to read the next one. Who is your biggest supporter? My husband Who are your must-read/one-click authors? J.R. Ward, hands down. What book has made you laugh most? Easily Amused by Karen McQuestion What book has made you cry most? I can’t remember the last time a book made me cry. I prefer books with an HEA or HFN. I know this is a total cop out, but it’s true. Were you an avid reader as a child? Nope Are any of your heroes based on real men in your life? An idealized version of them. ;) Are any of the experiences in your books based on events that have happened to you/someone you know? Somethings, but I’m not saying what. LOL Are you a sporty or curl up with a good book type of person? Curl up with a good book What is your drink of choice while writing? Water or Diet Coke or Pepsi What is your favourite writing snack? I just discovered Poppables. They are wonderful. Do you have any pets? Two Yorkie mixes. Are you a morning person? This depends on how late I went to bed the night before. Author Bio: Lindsey Gray spends her days and most of her nights creating characters, over thinking everything, and trying to remember all the things on her massive to-do list. One thing that is always at the top of her list is writing something she hopes others will enjoy. Her journey into authordom began when her first novel was published in 2010. Through trials, tribulations, and learning how to work well with others in the author sandbox, she has found a joy she never thought she would know. Her many lists also include mothering her two children, devoting time to her handsome hubby, formatting novels for other authors, and hosting her weekly radio show, Gray Matters, on TMV Cafe Internet Radio. Writes: Contemporary and Paranormal Romance Author of: Nerdy Girl Nation Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a busy gal. When I’m not writing, I’m taking care of my family, formatting books for my fellow authors, working on my weekly radio show, or reading a juicy romance. I seem to find time to post on social media occasionally and watch an episode or two of one of my favorite shows. Tell us about your latest release. My latest release is a short story, Gotcha, that was released as part of the What the Heart Wants: An Opposites Attract Anthology with my fellow Enchanted Publications Authors. Here is the summary! The Romance Reassignment Bureau puts right what Fate has wronged. Ben Rigby and his team are the best agents in the business. When they receive a double assignment for the same night, they are forced to examine their true purpose in the matters of love and fate. After the wrong halves of each couple meet by accident, can Ben, his team, or even Fate stop these opposites from attracting? What can readers expect from you in the rest of 2017? I’m planning *fingers crossed* that my second book in my Nerdy Girl series, Nerdy Girl Nell, will be ready for publication in early October. Have you got anything planned for 2018 (book releases, signings etc.)? I have plans for another short story for our second Enchanted Publications anthology and maybe getting the third book in the Nerdy Girl series, Nerdy Girl Nuptials, ready for release. What is your favourite genre to write? I’m really strange in that I love to write Contemporary Romance with just a hint of the paranormal. My first foray into the combination was Gotcha, but I hope to do much more in the future. Do you see yourself writing in any other genres in the future? I do see myself trying my hand at writing something in the mystery/thriller genre sometime. There would have to be an element of romance, because that is just how I am, but I would love to write a great “who done it” in the future. Which book was your favourite to write, and why? I loved writing Nerdy Girl Nation! It combines two of my favorite things, being a nerd and professional wrestling. Plus, it was interesting trying to figure out how to write about someone being filmed 24/7 for a reality show. My main character, Emma, had some pretty interesting conversations that went sideways while she was being filmed and I loved bringing out the humor in those situations. For those who are new to your work, which book would you recommend starting with? If you want a quick taste of me and my writing style, I would recommend my novella, Fireworks. It is a fun second chance romance set over the 4th of July holiday in a small midwest town. Another plus is it is permanently free on most online retailers! How do you find names for your characters? And can you write them until you’ve found the perfect one? A lot of my character names have special meanings for me. My main character from Nerdy Girl Nation is named Emma after my niece. The character Emma’s brother is named Harry after my love of all things Harry Potter. In one of my novels that is no longer available at the moment (sadness), I had a friend ask if I would name a character after her, so I did! The character’s first name is Marla after my friend and the last name starts with the same letter of Marla’s real last name. She was so excited when she found out that she made it into my novel. I always compile a list of character names before I even start writing. In Nerdy Girl Nation, I added a character at the last minute when I was doing some re-writes. I had a tough time coming up with his name because nothing seemed to fit. I ended up stealing a WWE wrestler’s name but changed the spelling. That is how Seamus came to be. Which of your characters would you want to be stranded on a desert island with, and why? I would loved to be stranded with Chance Robicheaux. He is a secondary character in Nerdy Girl Nation, but is one of the main characters in Nerdy Girl Nell. I pick him because he’s very tall and can reach high into the trees for food or limbs needed for shelter, he’s very strong, has an amazing sense of humor, and is not too bad to look at without his shirt on. Do you have a character you feel more connected to? I feel very connected to Sophie McKibben from Fireworks. She and I have similar backgrounds, have experienced extreme heartbreak, and come back to have an even better life than we could’ve imagined. Who are your must-read/one-click authors? I love everything that Julia Quinn writes! She is the reason I’m obsessed with Historical Romance. I also adore Kristan Higgins! Her Blue Herron series is one I read over and over again all the time. I literally jumped up and down when I got the email from NetGalley saying I was approved to review one of her books. When I’m looking for a kick ass teenage superhero, I read the Cassidy Jones Adventures series by Elise Stokes. There are five books so far and I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for more. Were you an avid reader as a child? Weirdly enough, no, I wasn’t. The Harry Potter books didn’t come out until I was out of college, but I had to read them. Soon after, I got addicted to the Twilight series and that is when I decided it was time to write a novel of my own. I had different ideas about vampires and the world of the supernatural, so I wrote a novel called Redemption about the last remaining female vampire. It was released through a small publishing company, but I’ve since gotten my rights back. I’ve been toying with the idea of re-releasing it, but have no idea when that will be. Are any of your heroes based on real men in your life? Rob “Bobby” Breyer is based on a professional wrestler from WWE, but he is not someone I know personally. Mike “The Miz” Mizanin has been one of my favorite wrestlers for a long time. When I decided to write the Nerdy Girl series, he is the first one I imagined as Rob. Are any of the experiences in your books based on events that have happened to you/someone you know? An aspect of my novella, Holiday Cure for the Cursed, is based on a problem a friend of mine had. The male lead, Daniel, has a very large male appendage. A male friend of mine also has this problem and shared with me the struggles of finding a partner who wasn’t terrified once they saw said appendage. Are you a sporty or curl up with a good book type of person? I would curl up with a book before ever playing sport. What is the most romantic thing someone has ever done for you? When my hubby and I were dating, he knew I desperately wanted a Brett Farve Green Bay Packers jersey for Christmas. It was one of those things I didn’t need and would never buy for myself. We went to his family to exchange gifts, no jersey. We went to my family to exchange gifts, no jersey. We went back to my house and I saw a present under my tree that I didn’t put there. He gave me the gift and it was the jersey! I was so excited I almost missed the ring box that fell when I was grabbing the jersey from the box. He proposed right then! It was never how I imagined being proposed to but it was absolutely perfect for us. What is your drink of choice while writing? Good old Coca-Cola! What is your favourite writing snack? Strange as it may be, Honey Nut Cherrios. I feel like a toddler, but they are easy to put in a cup and munch on while I’m typing the night away. Do you have any pets? I have a two-year-old boxer named after the gladiator Maximus Aurelius. Are you a morning person? Not unless I’m forced to be, which is usually at least 6 days a week. If you could have any superpower, what would it be? To be able to fly. I’ve always have had dreams about floating or flying my entire life, so I think that it was meant to be for me to have the power of flight. What book are you reading now? I just finished reading Wicked Rivals by Lauren Smith. It is the fourth book in her League of Rogues series. It has a central villain throughout the series, but the series isn’t complete so he hasn’t gotten taken out yet. I know there will be at least two more books in the series and I can’t wait to see how she takes this villain down. Name 3 books everyone needs to read (excluding yours). I’d have to take a novel from each of my one-click authors. Historical Romance pick would be The Duke and I from Julia Quinn’s Bridgertons series. Contemporary Romance pick would be In Your Dreams from Kristan Higgins’ Blue Herron series. Last but not least, my Young Adult/Superhero pick would by Cassidy Jones and the Secret Formula from Elise Stokes’ Cassidy Jones Adventure series. Author Bio: Jennifer Allis Provost writes books about faeries, orcs and elves. Zombies too. She grew up in the wilds of Western Massachusetts and had read every book in the local library by age twelve. (It was a small library). An early love of mythology and folklore led to her epic fantasy series, The Chronicles of Parthalan, and her day job as a cubicle monkey helped shape her urban fantasy, Copper Girl. When she’s not writing about things that go bump in the night (and sometimes during the day) she’s working on her MFA in Creative Nonfiction. Writes: urban fantasy, paranormal romance Author of: Gallowglass, The Chronicles of Parthalan, Copper Girl Tell us a little about yourself.
In addition to being a writer, I’m a serial learner. I have degrees in both environmental science and business, and I’m familiar (not fluent) in several languages, including Russian, French, Italian, Gaelic, and Latin. You could say that I’m always on the lookout for a new project. Tell us about your latest release. Gallowglass follows Karina Stewart and she accidentally frees the Seelie Queen’s assassin. As you can imagine, the queen wants him back, and Karina ends up challenging her for his soul. What can readers expect from you in the rest of 2017? There will be the sequel to Gallowglass, Walker, and the fourth Chronicle of Parthalan, Golem. Have you got anything planned for 2018 (book releases, signings etc.)? So far I’ve got Homecoming (Gallowglass #3), Elfsong (Parthalan #5), a spot in an anthology (Wicked Fools), and I’m cooking a YA mermaid mystery that may or may not be ready for release next year. Whew! What is your favourite genre to write? Urban fantasy! I love blending fantastical elements with modern life. Do you see yourself writing in any other genres in the future? I always said I’d never write YA, but I’m in the midst of one now. I guess anything’s possible! Which book was your favourite to write, and why? Without a doubt, Gallowglass. I had so much fun researching Scotland and its legends, and the main character is a geologist, so I got to use some things I’d learned while studying for my environmental science degree. For those who are new to your work, which book would you recommend starting with? Either Gallowglass or (if they prefer epic fantasy) Heir to the Sun. How do you find names for your characters? And can you write them until you’ve found the perfect one? I do struggle to find the perfect name, but I can write with what I call placeholder names. For instance, Aeolmar (a hero in my Parthalan series) was originally called Blueberry! Which of your characters would you want to be stranded on a desert island with, and why? Hmm, probably Robert from Gallowglass, since he’s a 6’2” Scot who can swing a mean sword. I’d want him there for, uh, protection. Yeah, that’s it, protection from the native wildlife ;) Do you have a character you feel more connected to? There’s a lot of me in Karina, the main character from Gallowglass. We both studied earth sciences, and feel a connection to the natural world. And since my husband’s name is Robert we have that in common too! What’s the best reaction you’ve ever received over one of your books? The third book in my Copper series was delayed by the publisher, and readers started emailing me left and right demanding to know when it would be available. While I hated making them wait, it was great to know how many had been looking forward to it! Who is your biggest supporter? My husband, Robb. Who are your must-read/one-click authors? Nalini Singh, Jacqueline Carey, Kevin Hearne, Kylie Scott, Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs… Really, I could go forever! What book has made you laugh most? Hmm, I don’t know, since I don’t read a lot of humor. Probably a horror book where I laughed inappropriately. What book has made you cry most? Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare Were you an avid reader as a child? Oh, yes. I read anything I could get my hands on, including a set of encyclopaedias. (IT was a dare, and I made it all the way to R before I gave up.) Are any of your heroes based on real men in your life? Somewhat. I take bits and pieces of character traits from everyone I know, so most characters have a smattering of my friends best (and worst) attributes. Are any of the experiences in your books based on events that have happened to you/someone you know? Some individual scenes are, but the overall plots are from my imagination. Are you a sporty or curl up with a good book type of person? Until a few months ago I’d say I prefer curling up with a good book, but now it’s gardening season! That means I’m out at the crack of dawn watering, weeding, etc. What is the strangest thing you’ve done in the name of book research? Learned Gaelic. What is your drink of choice while writing? Coffee, of course. What is your favourite writing snack? I don’t usually eat while I write, since it distracts me. Do you have any pets? Yep, we have a rescue dog named Maggie and an attack parrot named Baby. Are you a morning person? I really am. I love getting up early and accomplishing things while the rest of the family sleeps. I find I get my best writing in then, too. If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Hmm, that’s a tough one. The power to stop time while reading? What book are you reading now? I’ve been reading a lot of Ireland travel guides as research for my YA fantasy. Name 3 books everyone needs to read (excluding yours). The Hero and the Crown by Robin Mckinley Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey The Onion Girl by Charles DeLint Author Bio: L. Chapman was born in and continues to live in North Yorkshire, United Kingdom. She has spent most of her life helping others as a health care assistant, and was, at one time, a DJ for a special needs club. Blending her love of helping others and her love of children, L dreams to one day own and operate a childcare nursery that will help mainstream special needs children with others. In the rare times that L. is not working to help others or maniacally writing, she enjoys making a mess of things while creating beautifully detailed greeting cards. She spends time relaxing with family, friends, and good books. L. loves to travel and has been to many places in the United Kingdom; her favorite places all involve the ocean. She hopes to one day share a kiss with her happily-ever-after in the romantic shadow of the Eiffel Tower. Should she ever get over her fear of flying, those kisses may be shared in the shadows of the Egyptian Pyramids. Ever the fussy eater, L. has never once tasted peanut butter, and she despises coffee. If you should feel the need to bribe her, it is suggested that you bring chocolate, as that is one of her know weaknesses. Writes: Romance, Contemporary. And the Disney collection. Are any of your heroes based on real men in your life? No, although some experiences are based on truths. Are any of the experiences in your books based on events that have happened to you/someone you know? Yes. I like to make my books realistic, and the fact some of the experiences have happened to me helps. P.S The Black Door Trilogy experience hasn’t happened to me btw. Do you have any funny writing quirks or stories you could tell us? Not really. I can’t write around mess though. My writing space has to be nice and neat. Are you a sporty or curl up with a good book type of person? Curl up. I hate any form of sport / exercise sadly! What is the most romantic thing someone has ever done for you? Taken me on a nice holiday. What is the wildest thing you’ve ever done? I had some wild times in Ibiza 2012, although nothing TOO wild lol! What is the strangest thing you’ve done in the name of book research? Researched A LOT on adult clubs for The Black Door Trilogy. I watched video’s, interviews of people into that lifestyle etc… It was interesting. What is your drink of choice while writing? Coffee! What is your favourite writing snack? Chocolate! Do you have any pets? A cat called Timmy. Are you a morning person? Hell no. I’m a night-owl. If you could have any superpower, what would it be? To be invisible. I’d stalk other authors to see how they write lol! And perve on Charlie Hunnam! What book are you reading now? My own as I’m editing it. Name 3 books everyone needs to read (excluding yours). The Black Door Trilogy. The Secret – Rhonda Byrne. Slave Girl – Sarah Forsyth. Author Bio: New York Times/USA Today bestselling author Melanie Moreland, lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her beloved husband of twenty-seven-plus years and their rescue cat, Amber. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them. While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys travelling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip. Melanie delights in a good romance story with some bumps along the way, but is a true believer in happily ever after. When her head isn’t buried in a book, it is bent over a keyboard, furiously typing away as her characters dictate their creative storylines to her, often with a large glass of wine keeping her company. Writes: Romance Author of: The Contract, The Baby Clause, Over the Fence Tell us a little about yourself.
I live in Canada. I hate jello. I am addicted to coffee. I am shy and when in public, rarely speak. I have been married for over 28 years. Tell us about your latest release. My last book was a short novella called The Baby Clause. It is a peek into the future of Richard from The Contract and how he handles his new role as a father. A portion of ebook sales goes to charity. What can readers expect from you in the rest of 2017? I have a book coming out in September with Loveswept- Random House, called My Image of You. At present, I have a tentative release for December, called heart Strings. Have you got anything planned for 2018 (book releases, signings etc.)? Currently I have 3 books planned for release. It will be my first series. I am signing in Leeds, England, as well as Vancouver BC, SASS in Norfolk, and then back to England in Nov for the Brighton Book Bash. What is your favourite genre to write? Romance Do you see yourself writing in any other genres in the future? No Which book was your favourite to write, and why? The Contract – the main character Richard, was fun to write. He had no filter, didn’t care what others though, and spoke his mind. As a shy person, it was the total opposite of how I am in real life so it was fun to just let go. For those who are new to your work, which book would you recommend starting with? The Contract. How do you find names for your characters? And can you write them until you’ve found the perfect one? Often, as they develop in my head, their names just comes to me. Sometimes, my editor asks for a certain name, and if it fits, I use it. Such as the case with Richard – she wrote me and said he is SUCH a dick – you HAVE to name him Richard because it fits so well. And she was right. Do you have a character you feel more connected to? Yes, Kourtney in Over the Fence. That book was very personal for me to write, and much of my life is in it. What’s the best reaction you’ve ever received over one of your books? The overwhelming popularity of The Contract, hands down. Who is your biggest supporter? My husband Were you an avid reader as a child? Yes, once I discovered the joy of reading, it became my favorite pastime. Are any of your heroes based on real men in your life? All of my main leads have bits of my husband in them. He is my biggest supporter, and is very tender, loving and sweet. After almost 29 years together, I still love him so much and I think I am the luckiest woman in the world to have him. Are any of the experiences in your books based on events that have happened to you/someone you know? Yes, I often include real life moments. Over the Fence is a prime example. Penny in the Contract was based on my own mother. Do you have any funny writing quirks or stories you could tell us? I write out of order. Often the middle of the book first and then I go back and forth as the story sends me. Are you a sporty or curl up with a good book type of person? Curl up for sure. What is the strangest thing you’ve done in the name of book research? I made Matthew drive, in a snow storm, the route I needed Lizzy to take in the book Into the Storm. I had to see if the timing worked. What is your drink of choice while writing? Coffee most of the time. Water others, and on occasion, wine. Do you have any pets? We have a rescue Cat named Amber. Are you a morning person? NO If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Invisibility. What book are you reading now? An ARC Author Bio: Dubbed “The Mistress of Erotica” by one of her superfans, C.J. Fallowfield writes novels that will steam up your kindle one moment, have you crying with laughter the next, before she rips your heart out and then slowly rebuilds your faith in a happy ever after. She has a childlike sense of humour, and a penchant for gorgeous, suited alpha males who would do anything for their woman. As C.J. is half French, if they have a sexy French accent, even better. She lives in the wonderful countryside of Wales and is yet to find her own Prince Charming, but shares her home with her extremely pampered fur baby, Pumpkin, kitten of mass destruction and world’s worst serial killer of voles. C.J. is an Amazon #1 U.K. and international bestselling author of contemporary humorous erotic romance novels, and released her debut novel in January 2014. Her sweeter alter-ego, Charlotte, is an Amazon U.K. top 50 bestselling author who writes romantic comedy novels. Her debut became a U.K. #1 contemporary romance bestseller, with both of her books hitting the romantic comedy bestseller charts internationally. Writes: As C.J. Fallowfield I write erotic romance with humour and suspense. As Charlotte Fallowfield I write romantic comedies/chick-lit. Author of: For the Night erotic romance series 31 Days erotic romance trilogy Dilbury Village romantic comedy series Tell us a little about yourself
When I’m not writing I enjoy watching movies, reading, and hanging out with my friends, usually over some good food while we talk the night away. Tell us about your latest release My last release was in February, under my Charlotte Fallowfield pen name, Never The Bride (Dilbury Village #1). It’s a real classic British humour, laugh-out-loud book, that has prompted more messages to me mid-read than any of my other books. What can readers expect from you in the rest of 2017? The second book in my Dilbury Village series, The Great Escape, is out on 31st August. The books are all set in the fictitious village, and feature characters from that village throughout, but each can be read as a standalone as it focuses on one of their love lives in particular. Have you got anything planned for 2018 (book releases, signings etc.)? 2018 will be a busy year for me. I had to slow down in 2017 as I had three surgeries in the first few months of the year. I’ll be releasing five books in total. Two romantic comedies – The Best Medicine (Dilbury Village #3) and The Wedding Planner (Dilbury Village #4). Also two full length erotic romance standalones, Inescapable, and You Promised Forever. Then my annual festive erotic romance novella – this one being called A Red Hot Christmas New York. I’m also venturing overseas for a few book signings. Vancouver in May, Norfolk Beach Virginia in July, and Chicago in November. I’m combining the signings with holidays to make the most of the long flights, so I can’t wait! What is your favourite genre to write? That’s hard to answer, I love my erotic romances, it’s what started me writing, and all I did for the first two years. But now that I’m writing chick-lit material, I’m also loving that too. Regardless of which genre, I can’t keep from adding my trademark humour in any of them. Do you see yourself writing in any other genres in the future? I do have an idea for a young adult series, which could be read by adults too, but at the moment I’m committed to finishing my romcom series and some other books that have been in my head screaming to be got down on paper for too long. Which book was your favourite to write, and why? I really loved writing my “For the Night” series, about a male escort who starts to wonder if there’s more to life, then breaks his number one rule and starts to fall for one of his clients. It was actually quite challenging to write – I made it so that there were eight standalone erotica novellas in the series, each featuring the escort with a particular client’s fantasy for the night, so for example dominant for the night, ménage for the nigh, biker for the night etc. But I had to also include an overriding erotic romance storyline, where, if you read them in order, you’d see Logan transition from the guy who only ever wanted to have sex for money, into a man who wanted to leave that lifestyle behind him for his HEA with the woman of his dreams. I loved the character growth in him from start to finish. For those who are new to your work, which book would you recommend starting with? I’d suggest one of my standalone novels. For the steam lovers out there, probably The Temptress. That way you’d get a feel for my writing, the erotic content, and the humour. For those that don’t like sex in their books, I’d say Never The Bride. How do you find names for your characters? And can you write them until you’ve found the perfect one? I use popular baby names charts etc. Or watch credits roll on the TV and if I see an interesting name I list it alphabetically into a “Character Names” spreadsheet. I have a tab for male names and one for female. Given I’ve written so many books, I also have a note next to each name that I’ve already used, saying which book they appeared in, so I don’t keep repeating a name that I’m drawn to. I already know the quirks of my characters before I start writing my first draft, so I chose a name that I feel fits them before I even put my fingers on the keyboard. Which of your characters would you want to be stranded on a desert island with, and why? That would be Luc Le Grand from The Temptress. He’s a dominant alpha through and through, then throw in a sexy French accent?! What woman doesn’t want a protective, hot, virile male in a tropical setting? Do you have a character you feel more connected to? I would say Mia Page from The Austin Series. This was my debut, and like most authors I drew on personal experiences for her as my heroine. While I look back and see that I made the rookie mistake of putting far too much sex into the six book series (which should really have been a trilogy!), her character growth and the journey she went on was really cathartic to write. I see more of me in her than my later characters, as I came to realise that my imagination was good enough to not put parts of myself into my books. What’s the best reaction you’ve ever received over one of your books? Waking the morning after I sent out my ARCs of Torn, to find messages with emoji knives attacking broken hearts! I’m slightly evil, but succeeding in making all of my ARC team sob and send me “How could you?” messages was really gratifying after I’d put everything into that book. Who is your biggest supporter? That’s so hard, I have an amazing group of loyal readers that found me with book one and have stayed with me from the get-go. But I would have to say Karen Bill. She’s not just one of my best friends (we met over 27 years ago), she became one of my editors, she’s one of my PA’s, she attends book signings with me as my assistant, and constantly shouts from the rooftops about my books, as well as just being there for me when I need a moan, or to run an idea past her. To have someone next to you, that has such belief in you and what you do, is incredible. I love her to death! Who are your must-read/one-click authors? My absolute number one is Sarah Morgan. I was late to the chick-lit scene, I was an avid reader as a child, but didn’t pick up a book again until 2013 as my career in finance was busy and stressful. She’s the only author I pre-order from the moment the links go live. I’ve loved other authors books, but some are hit and miss and I’m never sure what I’m getting from them. With Sarah you know exactly what you’re getting in terms of how her books make you feel, but with new and exciting storylines. What book has made you laugh most? Terry Ravenscroft’s “Dear Air 2000.” – I was on a long haul flight to Vegas with my mum as I read this book and I was crying with laughter. Not just tears of laughter, but gasps for air, can’t control yourself, might wet your knickers, raucous laughter. So much so, passengers around me started laughing at my laughter, and I had to read sections out to them all. If he’s reading this, I’m sure I must have been responsible for a sales spike around that time. Pure British humour magic! What book has made you cry most? That’s a toss up between two books. One was my own, Torn, a very angsty erotic romance that had me sobbing on the keyboard as I wrote it. The other was Tillie Cole’s A Thousand Boy Kisses. I can’t say I loved that book as it gutted me and part of me hated the ending, but any book that can give me a hangover (and few do), leave me virtually unable to see for puffy eyes the next day, deserved a five star rating! Were you an avid reader as a child? Very much so. I received a report card with an effort made grade D, attainment grade A for my reading! I read the entire library of my primary school and they had to get in a mobile library especially for me. I had a very advanced reading age, along with the ability to speed read, and was reading 11+ books from the age of six/seven. Often devouring one or two a day. Are any of your heroes based on real men in your life? Most definitely not! I have a few failed relationships behind me, and I made sure to write my heroes as the kind of men I wished I’d dated, and hope to date one day! Not to say that they’re perfect, as characters become boring if they have no flaws, but I never write about abusive men, or men who cheat, or make a woman feel as if she isn’t worthy of being loved. Are any of the experiences in your books based on events that have happened to you/someone you know? Of course. I think any author that says everything is pure fiction is lying to themselves. We draw from our experiences, people we know, people we might see on the street, things we’ve seen, heard or been told. Nothing is written verbatim, or characters written exactly as the person who inspired them, but everyday life is our inspiration. Do you have any funny writing quirks or stories you could tell us? I found a gorgeous old cottage, that used to be a Cider Mill, down in Hereford. I like to go there for a week each year to get away from social media, the telephone, housework etc. and get a solid week’s writing in. Last year the toilet cistern kept running, so I had to ring the owner of the cottage to tell him that the sound of water trickling was driving me crazy. I got back to writing my book, a particularly brutal scene where I killed off a beloved character. So there I am, laptop on my knees, sobbing my heart out when the owner and the plumber turn up to fix the toilet. I tried telling them why I was crying and looked such a state, but I don’t think they believed me as the owner kept coming every few hours to check on me for the rest of my stay – I’m sure he thought I was seriously depressed and might self harm! Are you a sporty or curl up with a good book type of person? Curl up with a book for sure. Though I have started doing a bit of exercise each day, as sitting writing all of the time isn’t conducive to keeping calories off your hips and backside! What is the most romantic thing someone has ever done for you? I was hospitalised for a week after a ruptured endometriosis cyst, and told my boyfriend over the phone how much I was hating the hospital food. At midnight on the Friday, our ward was woken up by him singing “Could you be the most beautiful girl in the world” by Prince, as he staggered in pissed as a fart carrying a take out curry for me. The ward matron wasn’t amused, but let me go and sit in the lounge to eat it with him on the condition he stopped singing and got a taxi home as soon as possible. What is the wildest thing you’ve ever done? I would say all revolve around pretty public places that I had sex with my partners. The craziest being in the men’s public toilets in our home town – what was worse was we only lived a two minute walk away, but we just couldn’t wait! What is the strangest thing you’ve done in the name of book research? Google pig’s penises! I know right?! I was trying to find a penis that looked most like a human’s for a particular scene (don’t ask!). I told one of my editors, so she gets on the case and I get a message from her saying “I can’t believe I’m Googling pig penises on a Sunday afternoon!” As it happens, a pig penis looks nothing like a human one, in case you had the sudden urge to go and check! What is your drink of choice while writing? Water or coffee – very boring but I can’t write when I’m tipsy. What is your favourite writing snack? I don’t have a snack – I get so lost in writing nothing else matters. I can start at 3 p.m. then when I look up at the clock it’s one a.m. and I’ve missed dinner and haven’t even been to the toilet. Do you have any pets? I do. Mr. Pumpkin, a tuxedo rescue cat with a black half-moustache. I adore him, except when he tries to climb on my laptop to get attention when I’m in the zone. Are you a morning person? Definitely not. I work from home so I don’t set the alarm until 8.30 a.m. but on the flip side I often write until 1 – 2 a.m. If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Invisibility – I’d love to be able to get closer to people watch and get more inspiration for my characters. What book are you reading now? Sarah Morgan’s Holiday in the Hamptons. I’m meeting her at an event on 13th July and can’t wait. Authors get their fangirl on too from time to time! Name 3 books everyone needs to read (excluding yours). The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, Mrs. Frisby & the rats of NIMH by Robert C. O’Brien, and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. All favourites from my childhood. What is your favourite genre to write? I find most of my book ideas are new adult romance. Do you see yourself writing in any other genres in the future? I want to try my hand at horror and more science fiction/fantasy storylines other than vamps. Which book was your favourite to write, and why? My rock star’s trilogy. For those who are new to your work, which book would you recommend starting with? I recommend Sydney’s first book, Shades of Sydney. How do you find names for your characters? And can you write them until you’ve found the perfect one? Some names come to me. If I’m having trouble I go to baby name sites. I can’t write without the right name. Who is your biggest supporter? A bottle of water. What is your favourite writing snack? Gold fish and Hershey Kisses (when I can get them). Do you have any pets? I have 3 inside cats and an outside cat I take care of since my neighbour moved and abandoned him. Are you a morning person? God no. I’m a writing vampire who can only think at night.
