Writes: Contemporary Romance Author of: Fix You, The Love in London Series & Summer’s Lease (A Shakespeare Sister Romance) Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m Carrie and I live in the UK, just outside of London. I love books almost as much as I love chocolate, and that’s saying a lot. I’ve always enjoyed crafting stories, and am so happy that I now get to share them. My books have been translated into 6 different languages, and I count myself lucky to have readers all across the globe. Tell us about your latest release. Summer’s Lease is the first in a brand new 4 book series about four sisters. This first book tells the story of Cesca Shakespeare, a down-on-her-luck writer who escapes to Lake Como to try and beat her writer’s block, and Sam Carlton, the man who let her down years before. Now a Hollywood moviestar, Sam wants to hide out at his family’s villa at Lake Como for reasons of his own. But as soon as he steps foot through the wrought iron gates, the two of them clash. Summer’s Lease is an enemies-to-lovers story featuring lots of sun, sand and gorgeous Italian food. What can readers expect from you in the rest of 2017? The second book in the series, A Winter’s Tale, will be out on November 30th 2017. Set on a snowy West Virginian mountain, it features a wooden cabin, a sexy bearded angry man, and Cesca’s younger sister, Kitty. Have you got anything planned for 2018 (book releases, signings etc.)? I have SO MUCH planned for 2018 and I can’t wait. First of all the third and fourth books in my series will be released. I’ll also be attending five different signings across the UK. For more information on where to find me, see my website: https://carrieelks.com/news-and-events/ Do you see yourself writing in any other genres in the future? Right now I have about 6 more contemporary romance books sketched out, but I never say never. I love psychological thrillers, so one day I’d love to try to write one. If I ever release it, it would be using a pen name though! For those who are new to your work, which book would you recommend starting with? Fix You is a good one, because it’s a standalone. Having said that, even my series books can be read as standalones so I guess it’s a case of which one takes your fancy :) Which of your characters would you want to be stranded on a desert island with, and why? Sam Carlton (the hero in Summer’s Lease). He’s half Italian, he knows how to cook, and he’s as sexy as hell. A winning combination! Who is your biggest supporter? My agent, Meire Dias, of the Bookcase Agency, is amazing. She’s a confidante, advisor and trusted friend too. Were you an avid reader as a child? Absolutely! Most of my school holidays were spent with my nose in a book. Starting with Enid Blyton stories, then graduating to Sweet Dreams novels and the Sweet Valley High series. I’m an eclectic reader, though, so I also read the Lord of the Rings series, and latterly the Harry Potter books too. What is your drink of choice while writing? Coffee in the daytime and wine in the evening. Either works! What is your favourite writing snack? I’m a chocoholic so chocolate wins hands down. It has to be milk and it can’t have any orange or mint in it. Apart from that, I’m easy! Do you have any pets? Yes, I have a crazy black pug called Plato. He rules our house with an iron fist.
